Nova Scotia has launched a new PNP stream for two-skilled occupations. The occupation in demand steam targets those with offers from Nova Scotia employers to work in the NOC 3413 (nurses’ aides, orderlies and patient service associates) or NOC 7511 (transport truck drivers). In order to be eligible for the PNP Stream, candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of work experience related to the position and they must have an offer from a Nova Scotia employer for a permanent, full-time position.
Currently, only candidates with experience and offers in occupations in NOC 3413 and NOC 7511 are eligible to apply. However, Nova Scotia has announced that this stream will be run as a three-year pilot program, during which eligible occupations will change. Targeted professions will change based on the provinces’ labor needs.
To be considered a valid offer of employment, the employer must demonstrate that sufficient efforts were made to employ a Canadian to fill that position. This can be shown by obtaining a Labor Market Impact Assessment and LMIA exemption or by showing that the position was posted on three Canadian job boards for least four consecutive weeks. Considered candidates must be between the ages of 21 and 55, with a minimum level of education equivalent to a Canadian high school diploma along with the result of their language proficiency test.
Nova Scotia remains one of our strongest suits in the provinces we are focused on, considering its need for Skilled workers to assist in its economic development as it has ranked as the world’s largest importer of services and demand is strong in areas of strength for Nova Scotia business. With its affordable standard of living and an exceptional level of education, Nova Scotia remains the place to be.
