EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW 133
The normal fortnight Express Entry draws weren’t looking feasible with the festive period in less than a week. However, the IRCC released an unexpected 133rd draw which resulted in about 3,200 Invitations to Apply to candidates under the Federal Express Entry system.
Although minimum CRS cut-offs had been relatively high in the past few rounds, we are happy to see that this draw saw a three-point drop to 469 compared to last week’s draw at 472. This could indicate a downward trend moving into the new year.
The 19th of December’s draw brings the total number of invitations issued this year to 85,300, significantly surpassing the federal high skilled immigration target to 81,400.
A job offer is not required in order for the eligibility of Express Entry invitation to apply (ITA), though additional CRS points are awarded if a candidate has one.
A set number of the highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool. These invitation rounds typically take place every two weeks and the vast majority involves all three Express Entry-managed categories.
As 2019 draws to an end, we see that the government is on track to achieve its goal of welcoming over one million newcomers over the next three years. If you are interested in making Canada your forever home, now is the best time to begin the application process!
With both Justin Trudeau (Prime Minister) and Marco Mendicino (Immigration Minister) of the Liberal party in charge, aspiring immigrants can expect that immigration targets would be increased sparingly to take in a whole lot of foreign skilled workers.
